Oculus Rift Pre-Orders Begin in Europe, Canada; Sept. 20 Ship Date

Pre-orders for the Oculus Rift headset are being accepted via retailers in Europe and Canada, with a ship date of Sept. 20.

Facebook’s Oculus VR unit said in a blog post that the suggested retail price for the Oculus Rift in Europe is £549/€699 ($716), adding that in-store demonstrations of the upcoming Oculus Touch controller will begin worldwide in October.


Oculus said in an email to SocialTimes that Rift demos will be available in more than 600 retail locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe “by fall,” adding in its blog post:

Every Rift comes with popular VR platformer Lucky’s Tale, along with hundreds of free 3-D 360 videos and VR movies, plus access to the ever-expanding collection of made-for-VR games and experiences on the Oculus Store. The Oculus Store will support purchases in multiple currencies, including the British pound, the euro, the Canadian and Australian dollars and the Japanese yen.
